About My Work

Syd Sarah Strong, Ph.D., LMFT

Individuals, couples, groups

I have spent over thirty years as a licensed psychotherapist studying with many of the great Masters. With my doctorate in Family Psychology, I have synthesized many strategies for successfully working with individuals as well as couples. Language and communication have always been my passion and when practiced, it becomes an art form, creating conscious choices and consideration in meeting mutual needs, repairing and deepening relationships.

I know how important it is to find that special person to walk with you on your path towards transformation, change, healing in yourself and in your relationships. Whatever life challenge has you considering therapy, this process will ensure emotional safety and empowerment.

  • We will explore judgmental self-talk and limited belief systems.
  • We will look at choices you are making.
  • We will learn ways of releasing emotions to free up the body without flooding the system.
  • Conscious choices will come from an internal clarity.
  • We will explore and discover linking with what the Dalai Lama calls “that infinite field of evolutionary intelligence that creates everything out of Its Self into even more of Its Self — individually and collectively.”
  • You will learn to communicate using NVC or Compassionate Communication Skills.
  • Your relationships will move from reactivity to conscious responsiveness repairing damage from the past.

Mind/Body Approaches I use such mind/body approaches as EMDR, EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, holistic breathing techniques, guided imagery, hypnosis. All are scientifically proven strategies that can be used to heal trauma or deep emotional wounds. I have spent over 30 years working as a licensed psychotherapist with many of the great masters in Somatic Psychology. My work is to provide internal freedom from suffering and struggle through clarity and conscious choices as the body is freed. “The organs weep the tears the eyes refuse to shed,” said Sir William Osler, the 18th-century physician. Through the expanding body of research on how the brain works, we know it is possible to create repair, to intentionally cultivate moments of clarity, acceptance, increasing our inner resources so that we grow and create a life that is deeply satisfying.

“Faith is the bird that sees the light and sings when the dawn is still dark.”
